While we wait for the world to fully open back up to us, we wanted to share some of our favorite and most popular Pathways destinations over the years - we hope you'll find inspiration in these journeys.
1. argentina
From the colorful city of Buenos Aires and the vineyards of Mendoza to the dramatic landscape of Patagonia, Argentina is magnificent. Days include hiking in the shadow of Fitz Roy, visiting authentic wineries & estancias for home-hosted meals and constant views of sparkling lakes & massive glaciers. Add in some horseback riding, fly fishing & the friendliness of our hosts, and our travelers quickly discover that there's truly no place like Argentina.
2. norway
The land of the midnight sun - magical, majestic Norway. Scandinavia is a truly special place and Norway - with its rocky, rugged mountains, its wild landscapes, friendly locals & spectacular fjords - is not to miss. Head into the rugged Jotunheimen or explore the lush west coast. With hiking, fly fishing & kayaking, Norway is a playground and the perfect location for a unique Pathways experience.
3. northern italy
From the historic castles & vineyards in the South Tyrol to the dramatic scenery in the heart of the Brenta Dolomites, our groups hike past wildflowers & alpine lakes, through rustic country villages, and along trails that boast unbelievable views. Relaxing with a glass of the regional wine while watching the sun cast a rose-colored hue over the jagged peaks is the best way to end a day.
4. THE AZORES
Sittings 750 miles west of Lisbon, Portugal, the Azores are in the middle of the Atlantic ocean and are one of Europe's best kept secrets. You'll find stunning scenery, hiking trails along rugged coastlines & hydrangea-lined pathways, volcanic peaks, a unique culture, delicious food & wine, friendly locals and so much more. You'll quickly discover that the beauty of the Azores is overwhelming and unlike anywhere else in the world.
5. slovenia & croatia
From trendy Ljubljana and the impressive Julian Alps to the vineyards, olive groves and dramatic coast of Istria, our Slovenia & Croatia trips are full of contrasts. Days are spent hiking on trails that lead to sweeping mountaintop vistas, ancient hilltop villages and truffle hunts with the locals. An authentic cooking class followed by a sunset cruise on the Adriatic is the perfect way to cap off a day full of adventure.
6. hut to hut hiking in the alps
It's hard to beat a summer trip in the heart of the Alps that combines gorgeous hiking and overnights in high mountain huts and quaint villages. Whether you’re on the E5 Trail, the Alta Via 2 or the Tour du Mont Blanc, You’ll experience traditional mountain cultures, different languages and landscapes full of high snow-capped peaks, glaciers, roaring rivers, wild valleys, crystal-clear alpine lakes, colorful wildflowers, emerald green meadows, friendly wildlife, rolling farmlands and charming mountain villages.
7. switzerland
In the Bernese Oberland, discover some of the most stunning scenery of Switzerland, hiking through landscapes that seem like a true fairytale. Think: bright blue lakes, tumbling waterfalls, snow-capped peaks, glaciers, wildflowers and herds of cows sprinkled across the emerald-green meadows. And, don't forget the incredible, mouthwatering cheese!
